Raheem Sterling: Pundit issues verdict on Man City star joining Euro giants after £50m news in last 24 hours
Danny Mills has tipped Raheem Sterling to sign a new Man City contract.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-City and England full-back claimed the European clubs who could afford Sterling’s wages are not attractive options.
As quoted by the Guardian last week (13 February) Pep Guardiola wants the England star to sign a new contract with his current deal set to expire in 2023.

The Times reported yesterday (19 February) the club will open talks at the end of the season and if he does not commit his future they will look to sell him for £50million.
“We all have ideas about what playing somewhere else might be like but there’s a lot to be said about staying somewhere you like and are enjoying yourself,” Mills told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“He’s playing well and winning football matches with a World Cup coming up which he undoubtedly will be a big part of.
“I’d be very, very surprised if at this stage he leaves. Real Madrid are going to sign Mbappe and where are Barcelona at? Maybe they need another year or so under Xavi, when Barcelona start to do well if Sterling was to be interested.
“PSG are the only other club that can afford his wages perhaps. When you’re at that level your options are quite limited.
“I think he will stay. There was a lot of talk about him being out of form and out of the team at the beginning of the season but he’s come good.
“He works hard and is a fantastic person to have around. He very rarely says the wrong thing, doesn’t moan and is a great leader with a voice that he uses in the right way.

“If you’re Man City why would you not want to keep him around.
“Every now and then he misses a few chances that he should score but if you look at his numbers time and time again, it’s sensational. He’s undervalued and underrated.”
