Ralf Rangnick: Man United have made ‘unbelievable’ blunder after ‘concerning’ reveal

Alan Hutton has suggested Man United stars are right to be concerned about the managerial situation after the underwhelming interim appointment of Ralf Rangnick.

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 63-year-old German has not lived up to his “brilliant” reputation since taking the reins at Old Trafford.

As per BBC Sport (7 March), senior stars are becoming increasingly concerned with the managerial uncertainty at Old Trafford as the club’s search continues.

A Man United source has told Football Insider (11 March) that the club are set to “go all out” to try and entice Thomas Tuchel from Chelsea after remarkable recent developments at Stamford Bridge.

Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag also figure prominently on the Old Trafford club’s shortlist.

Hutton insisted the appointment of Rangnick “doesn’t seem to have worked out” with top four hopes in the balance.

“It’s really not a great situation,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“We’re talking about one of the most iconic clubs in world football, and they’ve got it wrong this season.

“They brought in an interim manager in Rangnick. He was meant to have this unbelievable philosophy – we just haven’t seen it.

“It sounded like it was going to be brilliant, like he was going to flip a switch at the club. It just hasn’t worked out that way. They’re a talented squad, but it’s a team of individuals.

“They’re looking to each other for a bit of brilliance to win a game at the moment. You can’t do that.”

Man United

Rangnick has won eight of his 18 games in charge of Man United.

He replaced former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November 2021.

In other news, Man United star has been “mugged off” in “the biggest surprise” yet from fall-out.
