Kieran Maguire tips £10m Rangers project to be a ‘landmark’ as naming rights deal lined up

Rangers could rake it in from a naming rights deal for the Edmiston House project at Ibrox.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the on-site museum set to open its doors in summer.

The Glasgow Times reported last Saturday (22 January) that Rangers have acquired a licence to sell alcohol at the £10million development.

As quoted by the same outlet on Thursday (27 January), commercial chief James Bisgrove revealed that a naming rights deal is also being considered.

Maguire saluted the Scottish champions for diversifying their income with the Edmiston House project, which could become a Glasgow “landmark”.

“It makes business sense,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

There’s a lot of logic there. One of the biggest problems in football is that you have 365 days of costs but only 20 or 30 days of revenue generation.

“Diversifying revenue streams and utilising the name of the club can be a vehicle to generate additional money.

“Rangers have a very broad fanbase and fans will want to visit Edmiston House on matchdays.

“You can look at some of the artefacts on display and learn more about the history of the club.

“If it’s marketed correctly, Edmiston House can become a landmark for people visiting Glasgow.”

The Edmiston House project was devised as part of Rangers’ plans to celebrate their 150th anniversary.

The club have also released a commemorative kit and will host a star-studded exhibition match to mark the occasion in March.
