Rangers about to suffer ‘massive blow’ as key Ibrox departure on the cards – pundit

Rangers are about to suffer a “massive blow” with their chief scout set to join Tottenham.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the key departure at Ibrox.

On 9 June, The Telegraph reported Rangers chief scout Andy Scoulding is to join Tottenham ahead of the start of the 2022-23 season.

The report credits Scoulding with a role in the signings of Joe Aribo from Charlton, Calvin Bassey from Leicester City’s academy and Ryan Kent after a loan from Liverpool.

All three players have seen their market value increase during their time at Ibrox.

Kenny insists Scoulding’s departure will be a blow to the Scottish giants.

“It’s important for Rangers to get these sort of players in,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s important to get them in for cheap or on a free before moving them on for big money, that’s how they keep going.

“To lose someone like him to Spurs, I’m sure it will be a massive, massive blow to Rangers going forward.

“I’m sure there are other scouts there who can do that job but if this guy is going to Tottenham then he must be good.

“Rangers have never struggled with transfers but to lose a guy like that, who has signed those players, it’s a blow.”

Rangers

Tottenham have already confirmed the signings of Ivan Perisic, 33, and Fraser Forster, 34, this summer.

Rangers have welcomed John Souttar, 25, to Ibrox though his transfer was agreed in January.
