Rangers and Coventry City race to sign Cyrus Christie – report

Rangers have reportedly joined the race to sign former Hull City right-back Cyrus Christie.

The 31-year-old is available as a free agent after his Hull City contract expired at the start of July.

Christie has yet to find another club, but he does have several options with Coventry City, Preston North End, Millwall, and Rangers all in the hunt to land his signature.

The Scottish giants are looking to bring Christie into the club as a potential replacement for James Tavernier, should he make a move to Turkey before that transfer window closes.

Rangers will be limited in their options to sign a new right-back if the club were to let their club captain leave.

However, Christie does have numerous options to remain in the Championship if he wants to.

Christie is an experienced full-back, having made 320 appearances in the Championship over the years for numerous clubs.

The Ireland international has provided 42 assists and scored 14 goals throughout his career.

Christie made 28 appearances in all competitions last season for Hull, but he was unable to get back into the team after a hamstring strain.

Rangers

Rangers losing Tavernier would leave a major hole in the team due to his high output with goals and assists.

However, Football Insider confirmed that the Gers are willing to let him leave the club after interest from Turkey.
