Rangers are about to complete an ‘exceptional signing’ – expert
Rangers will land an “exceptional” signing when they complete the capture of Jack Butland from Crystal Palace.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton insisted Butland is someone with the same experience as departing number one Allan McGregor.
The Light Blues confirmed that McGregor, 41, is leaving the club following the expiration of his contract and the long-serving keeper is set to hang up his gloves.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (6 June), that Butland has agreed a four-year deal at Ibrox after completing a medical on Monday (5 June).
The Glasgow club are putting the finishing touches on a free transfer for the proven Premier League performer after Crystal Palace opted against triggering the 12-month option in his contract.
Butland spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Man United but did not make a single appearance for the Red Devils and was released by Palace following the end of his temporary spell in Manchester.
When asked for his thoughts on the signing as Rangers close in on a deal, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think it will be a good signing.
“It is probably somebody that they need through the door with that experience after losing Allan McGregor. They need someone with that sort of ability.

“This is a guy who has been round the block, I know he has not played a lot but he has the experience of playing in the Premier League, has been away with England, he brings all those characteristics that you need for a goalkeeper.
“Maybe lost his way ever so slightly but you know there is an exceptional goalkeeper somewhere in there.“
In other news, another Rangers exit confirmed as official paperwork filed.
