‘Rangers are finally getting it together’ after ‘exciting’ deal agreed – ‘this is big’

Rangers have been tipped to go up another level after confirmation of an “exciting signing” was announced.

Russell Martin’s side drew 1-1 away at Motherwell in the opening game of the Scottish Premiership’s season as James Tavernier’s opener was cancelled out by Emmanuel Longelo’s late strike.

It was far from an ideal start to the domestic campaign for the Gers, who have already fallen behind arch-rivals Celtic in the title race.

However, the Glasgow giants did have success in the Champions League, advancing to the next round of qualifying with a 3-1 aggregate win over Greek side Panathinaikos.

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa, and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that good times are ahead for Rangers, especially after their most recent signing.

Rangers sign ‘exciting’ Moore on loan

This article contains exclusive comment from Keith Wyness, former Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen CEO.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Rangers’ recent signing of Mikey Moore is incredibly exciting.

The Ibrox-based side have confirmed the addition of Moore from Tottenham on a season-long loan.

Wyness added that Rangers are gradually getting it together under Martin.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Apparently, Russell Martin has been an admirer of Mikey Moore for a while.

Look, I think that Rangers are gradually getting it together. They did really well with the Panathinaikos tie, so they’ve got to hope that there are good times ahead. It’s taken the pressure off Russell Martin slightly, so we’ll see how they get on.

It’s good for Rangers that they’re looking at younger talent. That’s the one thing I was worried about, that they were going to go old and experienced. It’s good to see them freshen up and with exciting attacking talent as well. So I think it’s a very big positive move for Rangers.”

Rangers set for Igamane auction

Meanwhile, Rangers are ready for Everton and four other European sides to drive up Hamza Igamane’s price tag this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Igamane’s 16 goals and three assists in his debut season at Ibrox have put the 22-year-old in the shop window this summer, and Rangers’ owners 49ers Enterprises could be willing to sell their star striker.

Football Insider revealed on 2 August that Rangers will drive a hard bargain and could demand close to £20million for Igamane, and their hand will be strengthened further via Champions League qualification.

As well as Lille launching an inquest earlier this summerFootball Insider sources have said that Everton, Feyenoord, Rennes, and Udinese are all keen on Igamane.
