Rangers are ‘in trouble’ after source’s £5m reveal – pundit

Rangers “could be in trouble” if they splash out another £5million to sign Cyriel Dessers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie urged the Gers against spending cash that they “don’t have”.

Michael Beale has already spent around £3million bringing Atalanta forward Sam Lammers to Ibrox last month.

According to The Sun (27 June), the Light Blues had an opening bid of £3.5m for Feyenoord striker Danilo rejected.

The Dutch club value the 24-year-old, who scored 14 goals last season, at £7m and were quick to dismiss the Gers’ first offer.

Last month (12 June), Football Insider revealed that Rangers are pursuing a deal for Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers who could cost around £5m to lure him away from Italy.

But McAvennie insisted the Gers won’t pay up for Danilo.

It is not going to happen,” he told Football Insider.

Where is the money coming from? I would be surprised if they spend that much on one player.

If they are banking on getting to the Champions League and spend money thinking they are going to qualify they could be in trouble again.

Rangers

I am hoping somebody will tell them that they cannot spend money that they have not got because that is how they got into trouble in the first place.

£7m is a lot of money even for Celtic and they have got money. Hopefully somebody inside the club knows what they are doing.

In other news, Kieran Maguire cites Rangers as Newcastle United fans complain at £30m deal.
