Sky Sports details major development regarding Caixinha future at Rangers

By James Black

Rangers board of directors have held an unscheduled meeting to discuss Pedro Caixinha’s future on Thursday, according to a report.

Sky Sports claimed on their live daily blog on Thursday [11:47am] that a huge development has been made with Caixinha coming under increased pressure at Ibrox as crunch talks were held.

Radio Clyde has also reported on their official Twitter account that the meeting has concluded with chairman Dave King leaving Ibrox without making any comment.

The Gers currently sit in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership – eight points off leaders Celtic.

Caixinha was only appointed as Rangers manager in March but has suffered a number of embarrassing results since taking charge.

The Europa League humiliation at the hands of Progres Niederkorn and a 5-1 Old Firm defeat saw fans starting to turn against the 45-year-old but the recent Scottish League Cup defeat by Motherwell and Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock appears to have been the final straw.

Veteran striker Kenny Miller is the current favourite to replace him with Paddy Power offering 3/1 for the 37-year-old to take charge.

Other names in the running if Rangers sack Caixinha include Billy Davies, Alex McLeish and Dougie Freedman.

Miller was banished from Caixinha’s first-team squad last month after reportedly leaking details of a team meeting in the wake of a 2-0 defeat by Celtic.

Caixinha ordered the former Scotland star to play with the club’s Under-20 side and has refused to pick Miller for any of the club’s last four matches.

In other Rangers news, Kris Boyd tore into Caixinha after the defeat against Motherwell.
