Rangers boss Graeme Murty slams transfer window mechanism
Rangers manager Graeme Murty has revealed his frustrations with the current transfer set-up and highlighted the fact that different countries have different transfer windows as something he doesn’t agree with.
The Gers manager is making an impressive job of his first transfer window with his six signings at Ibrox this month all impressing supporters.
Murty’s frustration won’t be helped by an offer being made from China for striker Alfredo Morelos with less than 36 hours remaining until the transfer window in Britain closes while Chinese clubs can bring in players until February 28th.
Murty revealed his problems with the current transfer system – but admitted it’s a situation the Ibrox giants just need to “deal with.”
“I’m not sure I agree with the transfer window mechanism,” Murty said, in a video shared by the club’s official YouTube channel.
“I’m definitely not sure I agree with the fact they are not synchronised across the globe – there are different windows open until later than ours.
“It’s just a situation we need to deal with.”
Murty’s deadline day will be made more difficult by his side having a fourth round Scottish Cup tie with Fraserburgh to contend with on Wednesday night leaving director of football Mark Allen to deal with any transfer business that may be happening.
Only two first-team players have left Ibrox this month with Carlos Pena and Danny Wilson heading over the Atlantic to join Mexican side Cruz Azul and Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer respectively.
Greg Docherty, Jason Cummings, Sean Goss, Russell Martin and Jamie Murphy have all signed for the Gers in January while left-back Declan John has made his loan move from Cardiff City permanent.
