Rangers could be about to sign ‘better’ striker than Alfredo Morelos amid ‘huge’ claim – Hutton
Rangers would be signing a better player than Alfredo Morelos if they complete the signing of Cyriel Dessers this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said that Dessers is an A-list operator, although potentially out of the club’s price range.
On 12 June, Football Insider revealed that the Ibrox club are pursuing a deal to sign the 28-year-old from Cremonese this summer.
According to footballscotland (24 June), Michael Beale’s side are unwilling to meet the Italian club’s £6.5million valuation of the striker.
Despite being relegated from Serie A last season, the club are holding firm on their valuation an will not settle for less than that price.
Cremonese may be in no rush to sell the Nigeria international as his current deal at the club runs until 2027.
When asked if Rangers will be willing to pay up to land the striker, Hutton told Football Insider: “I am not sure they will.
“I think they will only go so far. If we are talking about £6.5m, it is a big investment for Rangers.
“I have seen clips of him and I think he is the profile of player Michael Beale will like. I think he is probably like Morelos but better because he moves better. But there is a cut-off for everybody.
“They will have their own valuation and if it goes above that then they will move on to their next target.“

Dessers made 29 appearances across all competitions for Cremonese last season and was in the starting lineup for 20 of those games.
He scored seven goals and provided two assists in those outings.
