Rangers could confirm Nico Raskin’s exit soon

Rangers may be open to letting Nico Raskin leave next month if they are able to win the race for highly-rated Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl.

Nico Raskin has struggled to shine at Rangers this season after being a key man for the club in each of the last two campaigns.

Danny Rohl has been able to improve their form since his appointment in October, yet the Belgian still looks a shadow of his former self right now.

Rangers fans have urged the club to sell Raskin in January with Tottenham interested in his signature, after he nearly departed in the summer window following a fallout with former boss Russell Martin.

A new transfer update on a player that could join the Glasgow giants may seal his fate, with Rohl potentially set to add a rising star to his midfield next month.

Rangers plotting Jens Hjerto-Dahl move in January as £3.5m demand revealed

Rangers’ chiefs are planning to back Rohl in January as they aim to join Hearts and Celtic in the Premiership title race this season and make progress in the Europa League.

According to a new report from the Rangers Review, they are tracking Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl ahead of Rohl’s first transfer window after some impressive showings at club and international level this season.

The club’s scouts have watched the 20-year-old in action, with a fee in the region of £3.5million potentially required to land him next month as Tromso are believed to be hoping that a bidding war commences.

They could face strong competition if they decide to make a move after Sheffield United nearly signed him in the summer, while Sunderland have also been credited with an interest in Hjerto-Dahl.

Hjerto-Dahl’s arrival could see Raskin sold on amid poor form

Football Insider recently revealed that Leeds and Brighton are tracking Hjerto-Dahl as he shines in the Eliteserien, with four goals and assists each in 30 league appearances for the 2025 season.

He is a defensive midfielder by trade but has featured higher up the pitch in recent times, and would surely be an ideal addition to Rohl’s ranks considering his midfield issues so far this term.

If the Gers do land the Norwegian star, then Raskin could be the man to make way, due to his lack of form this season and the decent fee that they could fetch for his services because of his previously strong showings.

He notched 16 goal contributions in 48 appearances in 2024-25, but has failed to replicate such form so far with two goals and four assists in 25 games so far and just one Premiership strike up to now.

Football Insider recently revealed that Rangers plan to accept a big offer for Raskin in January if one comes in, and their interest in Hjerto-Dahl could well point to an exit for the 24-year-old soon.
