Rangers could now make ‘stunning’ appointment after Sean Dyche reveal – pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed Sean Dyche would be a “stunning appointment” for Rangers as they continue to weigh up the future of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The former Leeds and Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, hailed the 51-year-old’s “fantastic” 10-year tenure at Burnley.
Speaking to talkSPORT (10 November), Dyche insisted he is waiting for a “window of opportunity” to open in the Premier League but conceded he could “broaden his horizon” if an offer doesn’t arrive.
He also opened the door to visiting Ibrox for the Old Firm derby in January as he “knows” sporting director Ross Wilson.
Football Insider revealed on Saturday (12 November) that former coach and current QPR boss Michael Beale is now the top target to replace Van Bronckhorst if he is sacked.
The Dutchman is clinging on to his job and may not be safe even if he makes it to the mid-season World Cup break – which runs until 15 December.
Whelan claimed the Ibrox club are “just scraping through games at the moment”.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Burnley were not the most financially well-off club when Dyche was there.
“The job he did there was fantastic.
“They were always very organised and hard to beat – even against the bigger sides.
“He would be a stunning appointment for Rangers.
“They’re just scraping through games at the moment, and that shouldn’t be the case with some of the players they’ve got in the final third.

“This is a team who should be winning games comfortably most weeks.
“Van Bronckhorst needs to get this weekend out of the way with a win in order to give himself more time after the World Cup.”
