Rangers could sign complete striker signing after Wednesday development – Hutton

Alan Hutton has claimed Rangers could sign another striker before the end of the transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender suggested the Glasgow club might use the Champions League group stage money to bring in another attacker.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side beat PSV Eindhoven 1-0 on Wednesday (24 August).

The win secured their place in the group stage of Europe’s elite competition.

Antonio Colak started up front for the Bears and scored the only goal before being replaced by Fashion Sakala late on.

The cameo was Sakala’s first appearance of the season.

As quoted by the BBC (23 August), Van Bronckhorst confirmed Alfredo Morelos was not part of the travelling squad for the game in the Netherlands because of his discipline.

When asked by Football Insider if the Gers could use their Champions League revenue to sign another striker, Hutton said: “I don’t see him [Sakala] as a number nine.

I think through everything that happened with Alfredo Morelos and Colak ran himself into the ground, he played well, put himself about and kind of ran out of steam towards the end a little. The manager needed to freshen up and I think Sakala was the kind of main threat to be that focal point.

Rangers

It’s interesting now that they’re in the Champions League group stage, will they go and try and bring in another player?

Alfredo has a lot to prove at this moment in time. Even when he is fit and firing, they’ve had injury problems with [Kemar] Roofe so they might be looking to sign another striker.

In other news, Kevin Campbell has suggested Alfredo Morelos may have played last game for Rangers after BBC update.
