Rangers defender could now follow Alfredo Morelos out the door after what expert has seen – ‘he could be gone’

Alan Hutton has suggested Borna Barisic could follow Alfredo Morelos out of Rangers this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said Sunday’s defeat to Aberdeen proves certain players need to “lift their levels”.

As shown on Sky Sports (24 April), the Gers suffered a 2-0 loss at Pittodrie on Sunday (23 April) as the Dons stretched their winning run to seven games.

The defeat meant the Light Blues couldn’t capitalise on Celtic’s dropped points at Motherwell after their 1-1 draw, which increased the gap between the sides to 13 points.

The Gers could be set to lose several of the players that featured in the defeat at Pittodrie with seven first team players out of contract in the summer, including Morelos and goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

But, as quoted by the Daily Record (21 April), Michael Beale claimed that every player that featured in the 5-2 win over St Mirren (15 April) will be at the club next season, barring Morelos and goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

When asked if anyone made a case for their exit in the defeat, Hutton told Football Insider:You look at the likes of Morelos, I just feel there is something missing.

There seems to be a lack of enthusiasm to go out and impress and really work hard. Scales picks up the ball from him far too easily. There are just little things that he could be doing better.

He could probably be gone, Beale has come out and said it as well. I think most of that team will be there next season.

Morelos is probably the one that stands out. But Barisic also probably gets caught far too much defensively at the back post out of position.

There is one or two that need to lift their levels a bit.
