Is Rangers star on the way out of the Ibrox exit door despite being in form of his life?

COMMENT
Rangers full-back James Tavernier has been one of the Gers’ standout performers this season but as his contract ticks down, is the defender on the way out at Ibrox?
The former Newcastle and Wigan defender has less than 18 months left on his current contract and with Tavernier in arguably in the best form of his career at Ibrox it wouldn’t be a surprise if bids were made to lure the 27-year-old away.
Tavernier and Daniel Candeias have been a key part of the Gers’ play this season and – despite making the odd mistake – Tav is definitely someone the Light Blues hierarchy should be looking to keep around.
After joining the Gers for £200,000 from Wigan, Tavernier has consistently been a big attacking threat for the Ibrox giants and while he isn’t as prolific as he was in his sole season in the Scottish Championship, the right-back has very strong a case for being the best in his position in the country at the minute.
Nobody at Ibrox will want Tavernier’s time at the club to end in the same acrimonious way Barrie McKay’s did after the winger tried to run his deal down and it’s imperative that Murty and director of football look to keep Tavernier in Glasgow for the long-term.
There’s been nothing from the player publicly to suggest he wants to leave and hopefully for Rangers fans his contract should be extended in the coming months.
However, if it drags on beyond the summer there would be a real concern the Gers could well lose the defender for free.
In other Rangers news, it can be revealed that a key first teamer has sensationally asked to leave after the board failed to stick to their promise of giving him a new deal during the transfer window.
