Rangers ‘don’t have the money’ to compete with Celtic amid ‘big’ claim – expert
Frank McAvennie has claimed the gap between Celtic and Rangers is only going to get “worse”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said the Gers do not have the money that they need to invest in their squad the way their Glasgow rivals have.
Before the Light Blues’ 3-2 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead last weekend, Gers midfielder John Lundstram claimed that the gap between the two sides “isn’t as big as what people make it out to be”.
Michael Beale’s only dropped points as Rangers manager have come against the league leaders.
Following the weekend’s fixtures, Ange Postecoglou’s side remain 12 points clear at the top of the table with a goal difference of 78, compared to Rangers’ 49.
The Celts also hit 100 league goals for the season after their 4-1 over Kilmarnock on Sunday (16 April).
When asked if the gap between the Scottish giants is as big as it’s being made out to be, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think it is going to get worse.
“It is only going to widen.
“Celtic have got money and I don’t think Rangers have, at least not the money they would like to put into their team.

“Ange has been called lucky off Michael Beale but he has bought players that nobody knows about.
“He was getting pelters off the Rangers supporters but they have come in and every one of them has been outstanding.“
