Rangers dressing room boosted by ‘shock’ Celtic development – Hutton
Alan Hutton has suggested Rangers have been handed a lifeline after Celtic slipped up in the Scottish Premiership title race.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gers and Scotland defender suggested the Hoops’ “shock” loss to St Mirren will boost morale in the Ibrox dressing room.
Celtic’s unbeaten start to the season ended at St Mirren Park last Sunday (18 September).
Speaking to club media (18 September), Ange Postecoglou confessed his side did not “reach anywhere near the levels” they wanted to in the game.
Rangers are now just two points behind the Scottish Premiership league-leaders.
When asked by Football Insider if Celtic’s loss is a much-needed psychological boost for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side, Hutton said: “Absolutely.
“The way Celtic have started the league has been exceptional.
“They just suffocate teams. Their energy levels are top notch and they are on the front foot for the full ninety minutes. It is very difficult to play through them.
“To go to St Mirren and lost 2-0… I wonder if the changes had a big influence on that. Personally, I think it made the differences.

“There was no signs before this that Celtic were going to slow up. It is a big slip up. I did not see them losing that games or losing many points throughout the season.
“It is a great result for Rangers. They have clawed the gap back a little bit. It was definitely a shock.”
