Rangers Exclusive: Barry Ferguson permanent manager update after Celtic win
Barry Ferguson is in the reckoning for the permanent job at Rangers after wins over Fenerbahce and Celtic, sources have told Football Insider.
Sources say the 47-year-old interim boss has “given himself every chance” to be in the thinking as Ibrox chiefs plot a permanent appointment.
It is believed Ferguson would be interested in landing the full-time role.
The former Rangers midfielder can enhance his reputation with further progress in the Europa League and a home win over Celtic after the split.
Ferguson keen on permanent Rangers job
Ferguson replaced Philippe Clement at Ibrox at the end of February on an interim basis.
He has taken charge of five games so far, winning three and losing two – including one defeat against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.

The 47-year-old’s only previous experience in management came with Alloa Athletic, Kelty Hearts, Clyde and Blackpool.
Ferguson has recently changed to a three-man defence for the aggregate win over Fenerbahce and the victory away at Celtic.
He made 409 appearances as a Rangers player, scoring 57 goals and winning six Scottish Premiership titles.

Igamane attracting Everton interest
Football Insider revealed on Friday (14 March) that Everton could sign Rangers star Hamza Igamane in the summer transfer window.
The Toffees are expected to face stiff competition as European outfits Marseille and Sevilla are also keeping tabs on the centre-forward’s progress.
Igamane scored the winner against Celtic on Sunday (16 March) – one of 14 strikes across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign.
