Rangers Exclusive: Philippe Clement sack update today

Philippe Clement is under immense sack pressure at Rangers after their Scottish Cup embarrassment against Queen’s Park and is under huge threat of losing his job, sources have told Football Insider.

The Glasgow giants lost 1-0 at Ibrox against the second-tier side on Sunday (9 February) to effectively end hopes of domestic silverware this season.

Rangers fans insisted Clement’s sacking is “inevitable” in their reaction to the historic defeat.

The Gers had built credit with their supporters in the first weeks of 2025 with a win over Celtic and progression to the last 16 in the Europa League.

However, sources say that good work has been undone with Clement now once again fighting for his job at Ibrox.

Clement under ‘immense pressure’ at Rangers after Scottish Cup exit

It is believed the next Old Firm clash with Celtic on 16 March is being viewed as crucial, with the Belgian now just a few more bad results away from the sack.

Rangers’ Scottish Cup campaign provided the last realistic chance at domestic silverware this term with the Hoops stretching their Scottish Premiership lead to 13 points in recent weeks.

Clement’s side were defeated on penalties by their Old Firm rivals in December’s Scottish League Cup final.

Prior to Sunday’s defeat, ex-England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that results in Europe have “kept Clement in the Rangers job” this season.

Rangers line up four contenders for Ibrox hot seat

Football Insider revealed in January that potential new appointments have already been considered at Ibrox, with four frontrunners named.

Steve Cooper, Derek McInnes, Russell Martin and Kevin Muscat are all in contention for the Rangers job should Clement be sacked.

The Glasgow giants are next in action against Hearts next week (16 February).
