Rangers expected 4-2-3-1 v Ayr United: Midfielder axed among four changes

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is expected to make four changes to his side to take on Ayr United on Sunday in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
Jak Alnwick, Andy Halliday, Greg Docherty and Alfredo Morelos are expected to come into the starting XI and replace Wes Foderingham, Declan John, midfielder Sean Goss and Jason Cummings.

Murty has continued Pedro Caixinha and Mark Warburton’s trend of rotating his goalkeepers in the cup so Alnwick is expected to come in behind a back four of James Taverier, David Bates, Russell Martin and Halliday.
After Murty confirmed John and Goss picked up injuries in the win over Partick Thistle on Tuesday it’s unlikely either will be risked against the League One high-flyers.
With Goss missing, Docherty is expected to take his place in central midfield alongside Jason Holt while Jamie Murphy, Josh Windass and Daniel Candeias are all likely to retain their places.
Striker Morelos was a substitute in the win over Partick but will come back in to replace Cummings and lead the line for the Ibrox giants.
Murty’s side cruised by Highland League minnows Fraserburgh in the last round and will be looking to secure easy passage into the last eight with a win over the Honest Men.
