Rangers expert can’t believe Mohamed Diomande latest – ‘You don’t normally see this’

Rangers ace Mohamed Diomande has a “tough” decision to make on his international allegiance.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claimed it would be hard for the midfielder to decide which national team to represent – Ghana or Ivory Coast.

Diomande has been capped by the Ivory Coast’s under-23s but his great form at Rangers saw him earn a surprise call-up to Ghana’s squad for the upcoming international break.

However, he was also called up once again for Ivory Coast’s under-23s which will force him to make a decision on his international future.

Rangers star Mohamed Diomande has “tough” choice to make

The Black Stars are not playing competitive matches, meaning the 22-year-old would be allowed to play for the Ivory Coast again if he chose to.

While he was born in the Ivory Coast, he spent a large part of his childhood in Ghana while playing for the Right to Dream academy, making him eligible for Otto Addo’s side too.

Hutton claimed that Diomande will likely “feel closer” to one of the countries, but admitted he has a big decision on his hands.

“It’s a very interesting one,” he told Football Insider.

“You don’t normally see this, but it will fall down to the player and where he sees his future.

“I’m sure he will feel closer to one nation rather than the other.

“It’s about where he sees the best opportunity and progression to go and play international football.

“It’s a tough choice for sure, but it will be one that he will be thinking long and hard about.”
