Rangers expert can’t believe what he saw Abdallah Sima do against Celtic – ‘Huge’
Abdallah Sima’s performance against Celtic made a “huge difference” for Rangers on Sunday (7 April).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton hailed Sima, 22, for his well-taken 86th-minute strike at Ibrox and for offering his side “something totally different” when he came off the bench.
The Senegal international bagged Rangers’ second goal in the 3-3 thriller between the Glasgow giants in his second appearance since returning from a hamstring injury.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (9 April) that the Gers could raise funds for a permanent swoop for the Brighton loanee by qualifying for the Champions League.
Rangers star Abdallah Sima was ‘huge’ in the Old Firm
While Philippe Clement’s side remained strong during Sima’s two-month absence, his return marks a huge boost considering his 15 goals in all competitions before his setback.
Hutton claimed that the versatile forward’s performance against Celtic proved he could be a “difference-maker” in Rangers’ efforts to reclaim the league title from their archrivals.
“Sima has just come back, so for him to get in the scoresheet is massive,” he told Football Insider.
“His goal did take a big deflection, but you still need to be in the right areas of the pitch to score the goal.
“He made a huge difference when he came on – him and Rabbi Matondo gave something totally different.
“You can see Sima was fired up for it having missed a lot of football.
“Sima did really well when he came on and he will look to continue this form.

“His confidence will be high after scoring in an Old Firm game.
“He just needs to continue this now until the end of the season because he can be a difference-maker.”
