Rangers expert drops ‘absolutely massive’ claim after Sky reveal
Alan Hutton has told Rangers to move on from the defeat to Celtic on Saturday (8 April) and focus on the “massive” semi-final against the same opponents.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said that complaining to the SFA was pointless because the result would never be overturned.
As shown on Sky Sports (9 April), Alfredo Morelos thought he had opened the scoring at Parkhead only for referee Kevin Clancy to rule out the goal for an alleged foul on Celtic defender Alistair Johnston.
VAR official Nick Walsh checked the incident and agreed with the onfield official.
The Hoops went on to win 3-2 and increase the gap at the top of the table to 12 points.
Rangers confirmed shortly after the game that they had written to the SFA demanding an explanation for the decision and VAR’s refusal to intervene.
But the Light Blues were “astonished” with the response from the Scottish governing body that insisted the goal was correctly disallowed.
But Hutton insisted the club and players need to move on from the result and focus on what’s in front of them.
“It is what it is, it is not going to get changed,” he told Football Insider correspondent Charlotte Cohen.
“The decision is not going to get overturned, Rangers ultimately got beat. Come out in your press conference and say that you are not happy with some of the decisions and you can speak about it and give your own opinion.

“At the end of the day nothing is going to change. Even if they came out and apologised and said they made a mistake, it is still not going to change the fact that Rangers were beaten on the day.
“I do not think you can go deep into. The best thing to do is get back to the drawing board and try and win the next one. which is the semi-final because that is absolutely massive now. But they can’t change that decision.“
