Rangers expert drops ‘big’ Jose Cifuentes claim as new details emerge
Rangers are willing to wait to get a deal done for Jose Cifuentes.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said Cifuentes is a “big” player that Michael Beale really wants to bring into his squad.
Last month (12 June), Football Insider revealed that the Gers made a breakthrough in talks over a deal for the 24-year-old.
The midfielder’s current contract at Los Angeles FC runs until December 2023 as the Light Blues edge closer to a deal.
But according to the Daily Record (9 July), it could be a few weeks before the sides officially shake hands even though Ibrox is still Cifuentes’ number one choice.
When asked if the Gers will be willing to wait for a deal the Ecuador international, Hutton told Football Insider: “It seems as though he was probably one of the top targets for Michael Beale because it has been dragging on for a little bit.
“He seems like a big presence, the clips that I have seen he looks like a big strong guy, can get forward, is good on the ball from midfield and I think they will stick with this for now.

“It does seem like they do want him. He is in a situation at this moment in time where he is playing football so if he were to come now he is fit and ready to go.
“We know Michael Beale wants his players in early but maybe this is the one they are willing to wait for.“
