Rangers expert drops ‘massive’ Jack Butland claim after teammate’s reveal
Jack Butland has “massive gloves to fill” at Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton has backed Butland to emulate Allan McGregor’s “big” success at Ibrox.
The Light Blues confirmed the arrival of Butland following the expiration of his Man United loan and Crystal Palace contract.
The England international replaces McGregor between the sticks at Rangers as his contract expires and the 41-year-old prepares to hang up his gloves.
The shot-stopper has had a remarkable career and made 488 appearances for the Gers and kept clean sheets in nearly half of those games.
The former Scotland international has been known to make important saves big moments in domestic and European outings.
Butland’s ex-teammate James McArthur has backed the keeper to fill the void left by McGregor in Glasgow and is confident the former Eagle will be a success in Scotland.
When asked if he agreed with McArthur, Hutton told Football Insider: “It is massive gloves to fill.
“What Allan McGregor has done over the course of the years has been quite incredible.

“I think Butland has definitely got the experience, he is at a good age, he has played at a high level. He is an international footballer, I know not recently but he has been in the England set up.
“I am sure Butland will be confident in his ability to come up and make big saves at big moments because that is what you have to do as Rangers’ number one.“
