Rangers expert fears Celtic as ‘heavy beating’ claim made
Rangers must change their approach to the first Old Firm game of the season after last season’s 3-0 loss at Celtic Park.
That’s according to former Gers boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about this weekend’s crunch clash.
Rangers travel to Celtic Park on Sunday (4 August) looking to overtake the Hoops at the top of the Premiership.

Ange Postecoglou’s side currently boasts a 100% record this season and won 9-0 against Dundee United last weekend (28 August).
After last season’s 3-0 loss at the same venue, McLeish insists the Gers have to change their approach this time.
“Celtic have started their season quite well with the 100% record, they have been absolutely on fire,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“They were all over Dundee United at the weekend and you think they could do that to a few clubs. When it comes to Rangers it is a different ball game.
“Rangers have to remember they took a heavy beating from Celtic last season and I’m sure there will be a few strong words in that dressing room before they go out onto the pitch.
“There needs to be a difference in the way they approach the game this season after last season. Nobody knows that more than Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
“From Celtic, it’s [the 9-0 win] amazing, their confidence must be through the roof. Rangers had a good victory as well.

“Sometimes they [Rangers] stutter in these games and that is why Celtic won the title last season so they need to get over that.
“I’m not saying they are expected to win. But it’s a cup final and Rangers know they need to keep up their good form.”
