Rangers expert hails Giovanni van Bronckhorst claim after Antonio Colak development
Alex McLeish has said Antonio Colak has proven he can be a goalscorer at Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers boss insisted Giovanni van Bronckhorst made the right decision signing the 28-year-old.
The Croatia international scored the first equaliser in the home leg of their Champions League playoff at Ibrox on Tuesday (16 August).
Colak helped his side secure a 2-2 draw against PSV Eindhoven.
The forward has started every game for the Bears so far this season across all competitions.
On 7 July, the club confirmed the signing of Colak from PAOK on a three-year deal.
Ibrox stalwart Alfredo Morelos has only recently returned from a thigh injury picked up on international duty for Colombia.
He was sidelined for most of the second half of last season.
McLeish said Colak has been doing a good job in Morelos’ absence.
“You have to hand it to Colak, he’s been scoring freely,” he told Football Insider.

“Last season we were saying Colak’s not a proven goalscorer but he’s certainly proved himself in the first four games, he’s scored four goals and Giovanni was the guy who chose him.
“You’d like to think he chose him for a particular reason, whether it was the fact that he believes he can get goals in the Champions League and at Rangers because of the style of play he has, or, he will also help other players prosper in the game. So Giovanni has made a shrewd signing there and up to now he’s proven that to be the case.“
