Rangers expert: Ibrox board have made up their minds over six new deals

Alan Hutton has insisted the Rangers board have made their mind up over whether to offer new contracts to players like Alfredo Morelos.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender urged his former club to add quality signings in the summer, which will be key to overcoming Celtic.

Numerous players are out of contract in the summer including Morelos, Ryan Kent, Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield, as well as veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor and long-standing servant Steven Davis.

The Gers could be set to lose them all for free at the end of the season.

On 2 March, sources told this site that Rangers have offered new deals to Kent and Morelos and remain in talks with both players.

The Ibrox club are keen to keep the attacking duo but neither player has made a final decision on whether they’ll stay or leave Glasgow.

On 3 March, Football Insider also revealed that Scott Arfield, 34, is expected to sign an extension with the Glasgow giants and Michael Beale is keen to keep hold of him beyond this season.

When asked if the Gers will be able to cope with the number of potential outgoings, Hutton told Football Insider:It is going to be difficult.

I am pretty sure the likes of Ross Wilson will be working extremely hard behind the scenes.

Rangers

They will know at this moment in time who they want to offer contracts, whether that be Morelos, Kent, Jack, Arfield, they have probably made their decision on that.

But you need to fill those spaces and it is not just about having numbers in, you need quality. Celtic have set the bar and it is about reaching that and trying to overcome it which is going to be difficult so recruitment is definitely key.

In other news, Rangers star fined for disciplinary issues and deal could now be terminated.
