Rangers expert impressed by Ryan Kent after what he’s just seen in person
Alan Hutton was impressed with what he saw from Rangers in person.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said there were lots of positives to take away from the 3-0 friendly win over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday (10 December).
A double from Malik Tillman and a late strike from Scott Arfield sealed the victory for Michael Beale’s side as he took charge at Ibrox for the first time as manager.
The Bears confirmed Beale would be taking over from departing boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst last month.
The Light Blues restart their Scottish Premiership campaign at home to Hibernian on Thursday (15 December).
When asked if he liked what he saw from the side under Beale, Hutton told Football Insider: “I did.
“You can’t get away from the fact that Leverkusen were not up to very much if I am totally honest. They looked behind Rangers in terms of fitness and game time. But you can only play who you are in front of.
“There were subtle changes to formation, it was more of a 4-3-1-2 with Ryan Kent with a free role in that number ten and one midfielder Tillman getting up and supporting the strikers.

“I think overall you could see an identity coming forward, a style of play, how he is going to move forward with this team.
“There was an energy and enthusiasm to run about and win the ball back. All positive but the real stuff starts on Thursday.”
