Rangers expert issues ‘amazing’ Leon King claim after what he saw in person at Anfield
Leon King was “amazing” against Liverpool as he was handed his first start for Rangers in the Champions League.
That’s according to ex-Gers boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the youngster’s performance at Anfield.
King, 18, started at Anfield as his side lost 2-0 to Liverpool on Tuesday (4 October).
This was the youngster’s first start in the Champions League as he lined up against Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.
McLeish, who was in attendance at Anfield, loved what he saw from King.
“He must have been bricking it, honestly,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“I remember getting my debut in a big game back in the day, I remember thinking my first touch, header, pass, it all had to be good.
“To be fair, I thought he had a tremendous game given his youth and the fact that he was going right into the cauldron.
“He was up against those three forwards who were absolutely electric to start with. He was calm and composed.
“I don’t think I could ever say he got exposed badly so it was a good performance by King. It enhances your confidence and he will now be bursting to go and play the next game.
“Whether he gets chosen or not is a different matter but it was an amazing night for him.”

King has made nine total appearances for Rangers this season.
The Gers are next in action against St Mirren on Saturday (8 October).
