Rangers expert makes ‘bad luck’ claim after ‘big’ update

Alan Hutton has claimed the injury problems at Rangers are simply down to bad luck.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said players are always going to pick up injuries given the amount of games they play in a season but insisted that is why the Light Blues have a big squad.

Michael Beale confirmed that his side were without six first team players ahead of their 5-2 win over St Mirren on Saturday (15 April).

Connor Goldson missed out for the second game in a row, whilst Ryan Kent was also ruled out with an injury.

Ryan Jack, Ridvan Yilmaz, Antonio Colak, Scott Wright and Ryan Jack were all unavailable.

None of the injuries seem to be long-term but Beale was unwilling to take risks with players who will be important ahead of the Scottish Cup semi-final at the end of the month.

When asked if there is a worry of a bigger problem behind the scenes, given the number of injuries this season, Hutton told Football Insider:I do not think so.

I think it is a bit of bad luck as well. Players get injured it is just one of those things.

A new manager, different intensity could lead to things like that.

Rangers

That is not to say they are doing anything wrong but your body gets used to a certain way and it can just change all of a sudden.

But it is a long hard season as well. A lot of these guys have played a lot of football so they pick up niggles, that is why you have big squads.

In other news, Rangers have lost £111m as paperwork filed.
