Rangers expert on Ross Stewart deal being agreed after source’s reveal in last hours

Alan Hutton has claimed Ross Stewart is too expensive for Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said that £10million for a single player is out of the Light Blues’ budget.

On Monday (19 December), sources told this site that Sunderland have placed a £10m price tag on the 26-year-old ahead of his contract expiring next summer.

The Championship club have the option to extend Stewart’s deal by another 12 months, but face a major battle to keep hold of him.

The Glasgow giants are actively monitoring the striker’s situation as they prepare for the potential exit of Alfredo Morelos whose contract expires in the summer.

Speaking at the Rangers AGM, as relayed by Sky Sports (6 December), chairman Douglas Park has now said that the Colombian’s contract demands may be “unattainable”.

When asked if the Gers would be willing to meet Sunderland’s asking price for Stewart, Hutton told Football Insider:I think it is expensive.

There is no getting away from that. For Rangers to pay £10m for one player, at this moment, seems unrealistic.

I think it will depend on what happens with the likes of Morelos and [Ryan] Kent in the January transfer window.

Rangers

It looks like Beale can probably get the best out of Morelos, he knows him well.

He has been back in the team, scored a goal. Will he stay? He will have to wait and see but I think £10m would be out of Rangers’ budget at this moment in time.

In other news, an expert has claimed Rangers won’t fork out for Alfredo Morelos after source’s ‘incredible’ reveal.
