Rangers expert: Robby McCrorie backed to complete transfer after source’s talks reveal

Alan Hutton has suggested Robby McCrorie may look to leave Rangers on loan next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender insisted McCrorie needs to hit the ground running in pre-season to try and secure the number one spot for next season.

Michael Beale brought the 25-year-old into his starting XI for the final games of the season after Glasgow rivals Celtic has already claimed the Scottish Premiership title.

The goalkeeper kept three clean sheets in those games, helping his side to a 3-0 victory over the Celts and conceded just one goal.

Previous number one Allan McGregor played his final game for the club in the 3-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday (27 May) and is set to hang up his gloves after an impressive career.

Last month (29 April), Football Insider revealed that the Gers have opened preliminary talks over signing Man United keeper Jack Butland this summer.

When asked if McCrorie will still think he can be number one, even with the potential arrival of Butland, Hutton told Footabll Insider:I think towards the start yes.

He will see this as an opportunity. He played most of the last games of the season, he has played at a high standard.

So it is up to him come pre-season, he needs to be raring to go as soon as he walks through the door and show the manager.

He has got the capabilty of doing it but we have not seen it long-term.

If it does not work out he may look to go on loan but I would think Beale will want to keep him in the building because otherwise he will need to bring somebody else in.
