Rangers expert ‘shell-shocked’ by two shattering injury updates

Rangers may not have the squad depth to deal with the loss of Connor Goldson and Ryan Jack.

That’s according to ex-Gers boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about multiple injury blows to the Gers.

Goldson went down clutching his thigh in the first half of the Gers’ 7-1 Champions League defeat to the Reds and was replaced by King before halftime.

Ryan Jack also went down injured and had to be replaced by Steven Davis in another blow to the Light Blues.

McLeish fears Rangers may not have the squad depth to deal with the double blow.

“You see Rangers losing two of their main men and you have young kids coming on who are learning their trade,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“King came on and he looked shell-shocked. The movement of the Liverpool strikers came on, Salah, I mean that’s just a whole other level.

“He was the best player in the world last year and for young kids to go against these guys, it’s an education, one hell of a hammering.

“So if Goldson and Jack are going to be out for a while that’s an devastating blow. Jack has spent the last year injured and Goldson never misses a game.

“So it’s two blows for two different reasons, you just hope we have the squad depth to deal with it.”

Last season Goldson made 61 appearances for the Light Blues across all competitions.

In those outings, he scored four goals and provided four assists.
