Rangers expert surprised by Ryan Kent move after ‘speaking’ to former teammate

Ryan Kent should have moved to England after leaving Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton was surprised Kent has ended up at Turkish side Fenerbahce.

The 26-year-old left the Light Blues as a free agent this summer following the expiration of his contract.

Kent made 218 appearances during his four years with the Glasgow giants, notching 33 goals and 56 assists in those outings.

This season, the attacker struggled for form, netting just three goals in 44 appearances across all competitions.

It was confirmed last week (12 June) that the winger has joined Fenerbahce on a four-year deal.

Kent follows in the footsteps of former teammate Allan McGregor who spent a year at Besiktas after he left Rangers in 2012.

When asked for his assessment of Kent’s move to Fenerbahce, Hutton told Football Insider:I do not think it is a bad move.

I was speaking to Allan McGregor about it, he has played there and there can be issues when it comes to things like wages and getting paid, the structure of things, it can be a bit annoying for the player.

Rangers

I think in terms of football it is a big team, great atmosphere, the fans can be crazy at times. I think it is something he will enjoy.

I thought he would have gone down to England. But he is at a big club and will be hoping to do well.”

In other news, Rangers have opened new talks with Nottingham Forest defender.
