Rangers expert tells four Ibrox stars to ‘show everyone’ and spearhead title charge
Rangers stars Jack Butland, Abdallah Sima, James Tavernier and Connor Goldson need to “step up” ahead of the club’s crucial title-deciding run-in.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton urged the senior aces to rally around the squad and push them to show that they are “title contenders”.
Philippe Clement’s side have won just one point from their last two league games after their 3-3 draw to challengers Celtic and their shock 3-2 defeat to Ross County on Sunday (14 April).
Butland, Sima, Tavernier and Goldson have been crucial components’ in Rangers’ surge towards an initially unexpected title.
Rangers stars must ‘come back’ from poor results if they want the title
Hutton was adamant that his former side have shown the “needed determination” since Clement’s arrival, but they must revert back to that mentality for the remainder of the campaign if they want to win the league.
“I think after the Ross County game, there’s so much pressure,” he told Football Insider.
“How do you cope with that loss?
“You need players like Taverneier, Butland, Goldson and Sima – they need to step up.
“They need to show everyone that they are title contenders.
“They’ve had a disappointing performance against Ross County, but it’s about how they come back from that in the long run.

“They’ve shown that needed determination all season under Clement and they need to get back to that for the rest of the season.
“Rangers need to be clinical for the rest of the season.”
