Rangers expert worried Ryan Jack could now quit after confirmed news

Alan Hutton has claimed Ryan Jack has not been offered a new Rangers contract yet but is hopeful he will remain at the club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender is pleased by Jack’s national team call-up and is not worried about a potential injury setback.

The 31-year-old was left out of the side for the Scottish Cup quarter-final against Raith Rovers earlier this month due to a calf injury but was back in the starting XI for the 4-2 win over Motherwell at the weekend (18 March).

The midfielder, whose contract is up in the summer, has had lengthy spells on the sidelines in the past as a result of injury problems but has been an integral part of the Light Blues when fit.

Jack was the only Gers player included in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Cyprus and Spain.

When asked if he is worried Jack could suffer an injury setback whilst away on national team duty, Hutton told Football Insider:Fingers crossed he does not because I think he is important.

He has not signed a new contract, he has not been offered one yet but it is still important that he stays fit and plays as many games as possible.

Whatever happens in the future, whether he moves on or stays, he will want to play as many minutes as possible.

I think he makes Rangers a better team when he is in there and fully fit. He allows the likes of [James] Tavernier to get forward, he fills in gaps and is really good at what he does.

No player wants to turn down the opportunity to play for Scotland but I am sure he will be fine.
