Rangers face dressing room ‘problem’ after ‘devastating’ John Lundstram confession – McLeish
Alex McLeish has admitted the Rangers players could have “a problem mentally” ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Cup final following their Europa League final defeat.
The former Gers boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the squad need to use the disappointment of Wednesday as fuel for their performances against Hearts.
Speaking to BT Sport (18 May) after losing on penalties, John Lundstram confessed he was “heartbroken” and “devastated” by the loss.
The Gers close out their season with Saturday’s cup final at Hampden Park.
McLeish insisted the players need to be “angry” and show they deserve to lift the silverware after a “magnificent” season.
Asked how tough it will be for the players to lift themselves for Saturday, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Mentally, obviously it can become a problem if they think about it that way.
“I feel they’ve got to be angry and say: ‘We’ve got to show the world why we got to that European Cup final. We have to show the Scottish League and our opponents in the Scottish League why we did so well at that level.’
“With that in your mind, there becomes a determination. I know words can mean nothing but if you say the right things and your head is up for it, then they have to be angry.

“They have to say: ‘This is what we deserve, something for our magnificent efforts this season.’
“I believe that they will come out with that attitude. That team deserves to get something from this season. I feel that they’ll come out the traps on Saturday and take the cup back to Ibrox.”
