Rangers fans ‘aren’t happy’ with Philippe Clement after his ‘huge’ post-Celtic claim – expert
“Fans aren’t happy” with Philippe Clement’s comments after Rangers’ 3-3 Old Firm draw on Sunday (7 April).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claimed that a portion of the fanbase will be frustrated with Clement, 50, for claiming his side had the “moral” victory over the Hoops.
The Belgian told Sky Sports that he was “happy about the reaction” his side showed after coming back from 2-0 down and claimed that the Gers were “at the end, the moral winners of this fight”.
However, some Gers fans were let down by the manager’s comments as they expected them to secure all three points in the potentially title-deciding Old Firm showdown – especially at Ibrox.
Rangers fans ‘aren’t happy’ with Philippe Clement claim – Hutton
Despite their first-half struggles, Hutton backed Clement’s claim and was adamant that the boss would “always stick by his team”.
“I think you need to understand where Rangers are at this moment in time,” he told Football Insider.
“They showed huge spirit to come back and Clement is always going to stick up for his team.
“I know some fans aren’t happy with his comments as it didn’t totally go Rangers’ way because they expected to win the game.
“But they showed great fight and got back into the game – they are a different animal now.
“Clement will always stick by his team, no matter what.

“He will be looking to gear them up as he knows they have more huge games around the corner.
“That will be the focus.”
