Rangers fans: ‘No way back’ for Cyriel Dessers as new online clip emerges

Rangers fans insist there is “no way back” for Cyriel Dessers in Glasgow after what he did to the supporters at Hampden Park.

Philippe Clement’s side were knocked out of Champions League qualifying after a 2-0 defeat to Dynamo Kyiv at home, and the match was shrouded by controversy.

The spotlight rested firmly on Dessers’ contribution to the game, as a video showing him gesturing and appearing to swear at the fans did the rounds on social media.

The incident came as the ball was played up to the Nigerian, who immediately gave away possession and was met by moans and groans from the crowd.

In retaliation, the striker threw his arms up in their direction seemingly ranting about their response, and the TV cameras picked up all of it.

Fans’ patience with Dessers had been wearing thin after his inconsistent performances last season, with many calls for him to be sold this summer, and those calls have now grown louder.

Dessers has been the target of supporters’ frustrations and has often found himself a scapegoat for the poor performances under Clement.

As reported by Football Insider on 22 July, fans labelled the striker “shocking”, “awful” and “one of the worst footballers” after his display v Man United in pre-season.

However, after his latest outburst, fans believe they have good reason to call for his exit, and have labelled him “useless” and demanded he be sold.
