Rangers fans ought to pray Mark Allen is eyeing up 33-goal forward after manager revelation

Peterborough United manager Steve Evans has confirmed that there is a Scottish club interested in signing striker Jack Marriot in the summer transfer window – and Rangers fans better be praying that it is their director of football Mark Allen who is eyeing up the goal machine and not Celtic.
As quoted by Peterborough Today, Celtic-mad manager Evans has revealed that there are clubs in the Premier League or Championship who are looking to sign Marriott in the coming months after the forward hit 33 goals in 56 appearances across all competitions for the Posh.
The 23-year-old striker was left on the bench for Peterborough in their final League One game of the season against Portsmouth at the weekend after it was confirmed by the club that there was major interest in him.
And now it appears that interest is not exclusive to English clubs as one of Rangers or Celtic could be lining up the former Luton striker.
“I would love nothing better than to have Jack Marriott available next season, but if the chairman exercises his right to sell Jack, I will make sure whatever cash I get is invested wisely. It’s unlikely Jack will be here next season and I felt it unwise to play him because of all the speculation,” said Scotsman Evans, as quoted by Peterborough Today.
“There are clubs higher up the Football League pyramid after him including one from my country.”
Evans is a Celtic supporter, which is why Rangers fans need to hope that it’s not them who are eyeing up Marriott ahead of the summer.
The striker’s goals would prove invaluable to the Light Blues as they look to close the gap between themselves and Brendan Rodgers’ side and having Steven Gerrard as manager would no doubt be quite a pull for a young Englishman who would have grown up watching the Liverpool legend.
