Rangers fans react on Twitter to reported major development in Caixinha future at Ibrox
By James Black
Rangers’ board of directors have reportedly held a meeting this morning to discuss Pedro Caixinha’s future as Ibrox boss – but fans on Twitter are a bit concerned over the board’s decision in hiring him originally.
Sky Sports claimed on their live daily blog on Thursday [11:47am] that the board wanted to hold crunch talks with Caixinha in a major development over his future.
The Portuguese manager’s side struggled to a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock on Wednesday night in the Scottish Premiership to fall eight points behind leaders Celtic.
Rangers only appointed the former Santos Laguna boss in March but have suffered a series of embarrassing results under Caixinha.
Chairman Dave King has since left Ibrox without commenting on Caixinha’s future but fans are glad that it looks there will be a change of manager.
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
Kenny Miller is favourite with bookmakers to replace Caixinha as manager after being banished from the first-team squad last month.
Miller was dropped after apparently leaking details of a team meeting to the media in the aftermath of the 2-0 Old Firm defeat in September.
The veteran striker hasn’t been seen in Caixinha’s for the last four games but could now replace him on the dugout.
Miller has been undertaking his coaching badges and spent time last season working with Graeme Murty’s Under-20’s as he worked towards them.
Caixinha was appointed on a three-year contract in March.
In other Rangers news, Ally McCoist has slammed Caixinha after his contradictory remarks from the Motherwell loss.
