‘Has everything’, ‘Class’ – Rangers fans react to reported Gerrard hijack of £5m-valued southpaw

By Richard Parks

Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to mostly hail the club’s reported pursuit of Hibernian midfielder John McGinn.

The Daily Record claim that new Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard has already sent scouts out to watch over McGinn ahead of a potential transfer move, while the Daily Mail claim that Celtic have also been in the hunt for the 23-year-old.

The Record report that Gerrard is keen to hijack McGinn’s summer move across the border but it will likely take £5million to secure his signature.

With BBC Sport pundit Tam McManus tipping the Hoops to swoop for the Hibs star this summer, Rangers’ arrival on the scene shows that the Light Blues are starting to try and muscle in on their rivals’ territory once again.

McGinn has had an impressive campaign for Hibs following their return to the Scottish Premiership, scoring six goals and supplying eight assists in 42 matches in all competitions.

Capped seven times by Scotland, the left-footed creator is one of the outstanding players in the division and has just a year remaining on his contract in Edinburgh.

Rangers fans are excited by their club’s pursuit of the southpaw, with one claiming he “has everything”, but some dissenting voices point out he is far more likely to join Celtic.
