‘Another Scott Allan’ – Rangers fans react as Celtic reportedly win midfielder transfer chase
Celtic have won the race to sign St. Mirren midfielder Lewis Morgan from under the nose of Rangers, according to a report, and Gers fans aren’t happy with the club or player over the news.
The Herald reports that the deal for the midfielder is close to being finalised but Morgan will be staying with St Mirren until the end of the season.
Morgan has made 23 appearances for St Mirren this season, scoring 10 goals, and has featured in all of St Mirren’s Championship games this season, as they sit top of the table.
The Scotland Under-21 international is a Rangers fan which has only made the player’s decision to join their bitter rivals harder for fans to take – with one saying he “can’t understand” Morgan’s thinking in joining Celtic.
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
Morgan is expected to be loaned back to St. Mirren for the rest of the season as the Buddies aim for promotion back to the Scottish Premiership.
Morgan began his career as a youth player at Rangers before being released by former Academy head Jimmy Sinclair, along with another reported Rangers transfer target in Kenny McLean.
With several first-team players facing long spells on the sidelines, the Gers will need to delve into the transfer market in January if they are to have any chance of competing at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
