Rangers fans react on Twitter to Owen Coyle sacking
By Harvey Byrne
Scottish boss Owen Coyle lost his position in charge of Championship outfit Blackburn on Tuesday afternoon – and Rangers fans on Twitter are clear that they do not want him at Ibrox.
The Premiership giants are currently on the hunt for a new manager themselves following the departure of Mark Warburton earlier in the month.
Naturally, a lot of managers have been linked to the famous club and it is expected that Paisley-born Coyle’s name will soon be thrown in following his sacking.
Now, it has been made certain by the Rangers fans on social media that they want their club to stay well clear of Coyle, who has previously managed both Falkirk and St.Johnstone in Scotland.
One supporter even went on to say that he’d rather watch the Gers play Alloa away 30 times a season than have Coyle near his club.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Coyle started management in 2003 with Falkirk for two years before moving onto St. Johnstone in 2005.
It was at the Saints where he first started to make a name for himself as he took them to one final, two semi-finals and on the verge of promotion to the Premiership before missing out to Gretna on the final day of the campaign.
He then moved onto Burnley in 2007 where he took the Lancashire club up to the Premier League and was considered a very bright up and coming manager.
However, his career has been on the decline since he moved across to Bolton and he was sacked from the Wanderers before struggling at Wigan, Houston Dynamo and now Blackburn.
It is clear that Rangers fans are now eager for their club to appoint someone with a proven record of success with their side currently under-performing in the Premiership.
