Rangers fans react on Twitter to brave Warburton selection for Hearts clash

Rangers manager Mark Warburton has named club prospect Liam Burt in his matchday squad to face Hearts on Saturday – and fans are delighted.

Warburton made two changes overall to the starting XI following the victory over Aberdeen last week, with Danny Wilson coming in for the suspended Clint Hill, and James Tavernier replacing Michael O’Halloran.

But the main talking point is the inclusion of 17-year-old Liam Burt as substitute, who has impressed for the Rangers Under-20s side in recent weeks.

The young attacking-midfielder has registered one goal and one assist from his four appearances this term, and has once again drawn the attention of senior boss Warburton, who handed him a senior debut back in March.

Burt is highly-rated by the Rangers fans, and they are thrilled at the brave selection and to see the young man get an opportunity to shine for the first-team.

Here are some of their messages on Twitter:

Rangers will want to continue reducing the deficit on league leaders and main rivals Celtic, who lead the Scottish Premiership by 11 points, thanks to their win over Partick Thistle on Friday.

Celtic are yet to lose in the league this season, but with title ambitions of their own, Rangers will be hoping that Celtic slip up enough between now and the end of the season to give them a sniff of a first Premiership title in four years.

Warburton’s side have won three of their last four league games, but lost to Hearts when the two sides last met at the end of November.

In other Rangers news, James Tavernier has had his say ahead of Rangers’ clash with Hearts.
