‘Embarrassing’, ‘Shambles’ – Rangers fans tear into senior player for display v Kilmarnock

Rangers lost 2-1 to Kilmarnock on Saturday afternoon at Rugby Park to effectively kill off their Scottish Premiership season – and fans are furious with Danny Wilson’s performance in the defeat.

The former Hearts and Liverpool defender was handed the captain’s armband for the day but couldn’t inspire his team to three points against Steve Clarke’s side.

Declan John opened the scoring for Rangers before two goals in a matter of minutes from Kris Boyd turned the scoreline around.

The result leaves the Gers three points off Aberdeen in the league with the Dons playing Celtic later on Saturday at Celtic Park.

Wilson’s performance left fans furious after the game – with one calling the defender “lethargic and immobile.”

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Senior player Wilson’s Ibrox contract is up at the start of the season and the central defender has generally impressed since coming back into the side after several months on the sidelines.

Summer signing Fabio Cardoso was an unused substitute against Steve Clarke’s side and could come back into the starting XI for Wednesday’s clash with Motherwell.

Bruno Alves’ absence from the side against Killie meant Wilson lined up alongside David Bates at the heart of the defence against the Rugby Park side.

Wilson has made 13 appearances for the Ibrox giants this season.

In other Rangers news, four new signings are on the cards in January after the appointment of Graeme Murty until the end of the season.
