‘Utterly baffling’, ‘Joke’ – Rangers fans destroy Caixinha favourite for display v Kilmarnock

By James Black

Rangers could only manage a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night after a crazy Ibrox finale – and fans on Twitter have made it clear that they are sick of Josh Windass’ poor performances.

The Light Blues were leading 1-0 when they were awarded a penalty in the 89th minute before Ryan Jack was dismissed after an altercation with Kirk Broadfoot.

After Daniel Candeias missed the penalty kick, Killie went straight up the park and scored through Chris Burke.

Windass lasted 63 minutes before being replaced by Aaron Nemane and fans want the midfielder to be axed immediately, even though he seems like a clear favourite of manager Pedro Caixinha as he is named to start pretty much every game.

Rangers’ number 11 has been disappointed fans for a number of months now and their patience has ran out, with one saying his constant inclusion in the team is “utterly baffling”.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Windass joined the Gers last year from Accrington Stanley but has struggled to come close to what is expected of him from fans.

The 23-year-old pleaded over the summer for a chance in a more attacking position but has failed to back that up with goals or assists.

Caixina had tried to give his side the chance to redeem themselves after the Hampden defeat by Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup semi-final but Windass failed to take the opportunity.

Fans will be desperate to see a different face in the left wing position when Rangers face Hearts on Saturday.
