Rangers fans savage ‘horrific’ John Souttar after what he did v Motherwell
Rangers fans have torn into John Souttar after his performance in the 2-1 victory against Motherwell on Saturday (10 August).
Rangers’ first league game at Hampden Park saw Cyriel Dessers on the scoresheet before a Robin Propper own-goal equalised for the visitors, and a strike from Vaclav Cerny proved the winner.
However, it was Souttar’s performance that grabbed the attention of the home fans as they failed to keep a clean sheet despite dominating the game.
The Scotland international was largely at fault for the own goal after a poor defensive header left Propper with no time to adjust.
This comes after his inconsistent performances for the Ibrox club, as well as struggling with fitness issues, saw him miss out on the Scotland squad for Euro 2024.
Rangers fans demand new centre-back signing after John Souttar display v Motherwell
He has started all three of Rangers’ first three games under Philippe Clement this season, cementing his spot as a key part of the boss’ defensive unit.
However, there have been calls for the club to recruit a new centre-back before the transfer window closes on 30 August, although no action has been taken.
Fans flocked to social media in criticism of Souttar following the victory at Hampden, with his performance labelled “horrific” and “dreadful”.
